Cardiac risk in the young
How do you encourage young people who take part in sport at any level to go for a cardiac screening?
In the UK, around 12 people under 35, die every week from an undiagnosed heart condition. Around 600,000 people in the UK live with a faulty gene that puts them at a higher risk of developing heart disease or dying at a young age. Pioneering work has led to the development of and access to screening and genetic testing programmes, preventing many deaths.
Young people are dying because they are unaware they are living with a faulty gene.
